VOLVO TRUCKS ACHIEVES A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD WITH THE NEW VNL

Sponsored collaboration with Volvo Trucks America

When you think of Volvo, the first thing that may come to the mind of most is safety, and in more recent years, cutting edge styling and technology. Volvo is in the process of overhauling its entire vehicle lineup and its latest model offerings such as the redesigned XC90, S90 and recently unveiled XC60 showcase the level of detail and luxury that will be carried through their entire vehicle lineup.

What many people may not know is that Volvo is also a global truck manufacturer that has been around since the late 1920s. Similar to the transition that their automotive division is going through, Volvo is implementing these changes to their truck division that can be seen in the introduction of their recently redesigned VNL series of trucks.

Instead of your typical vehicle unveiling, Volvo decided to once again take things up a notch with a creative video campaign that showcases the new VNL being boxed like a toy and allowing a three-year-old truck fanatic named Joel Jovine (who particularly adores Volvo trucks) to unbox the truck. The result? Not only was this a memorable moment for the young truck enthusiast but it also resulted in a Guinness World Record for Volvo for the largest item ever unboxed. How cool is that!?

Measuring a ginormous 80’ x 14’ 18’, the box was made out of standard box materials (cardboard and cellophane) and the VNL was packed inside. In order for Volvo to receive the title, the box needed to be opened manually, no tools were allowed to be used, and the truck had to be driven out without causing any damage to the box. The video then shows the young truck enthusiast boarding the truck, and in the typical 3-year old energy, explores all the new features of the cutting edge truck.
